Do you know what kind of frog this is? Does his enclosure need to be bigger? Does it need filteration or can I just do water changes? He has heat, but I don't know the temp I don't have a thermometer....and most of all, what should I feed him! He won't eat the little minnow I gave him, or a cricket, or a fly....does he eat plants???

That looks like a Leopard Frog, although there are several 'look-a-likes', like the Pickeral Frog it might be instead.

This is not a common 'pet' frog, and if it was wild caught, it really should be released after a short time of enjoying it.

Here is a good care site for this species: http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/frogsandtoads/a/leopardfrogs.htm

I'm not positive about this. And someone else may know for sure but I'll give you the information I found. I've had frogs & toads a few times. I prefer turtles though. It looks to me like it is a Pickerel Frog.

Pickerel Frogs are spotted, but with irregular rectangular brown spots in rows. This is the main way to tell them from Leopard Frogs, which have black oval spots. The basic colour is yellow-brown with orange on the groin and the underside of the back legs. Pickerel frogs are especially common along streams and lake shores near inlets and outlets. They also forage along grassy-sedge woods roads, roadsides, meadows and old fields. They are often found associated with Mink Frogs in vegetated water habitats and with Northern Leopard Frogs in land habitats.

Pickerel Frogs eat ants, spiders, bugs, beetles, sawfly larvae, moth larva and a variety of other invertebrates.

Check out the sources that I have listed as they will probably give you the information that you need or help you find the answers you seek.

I hope this helped.

OH! Is he ever cute!

It looks like you have him set up well but remember that they are very sensitive to yuck in their water so he will need frequent water changes.

You mention about Montana... Did you catch him? Sometimes it is illegal to catch and keep some frogs in some areas. Just so you are aware... 'cause I know you will find a good number of people that have done it. ;)
