The u.s is sovereignty but the city of town in which we live in is not...do you guys believe that cities should be? why or why not

i just want to see you guys's ideas

The federal govt is sovereign, meaning that it can make laws over its own jurisdiction without permission.

Each state is sovereign, since each state can make its own laws without permission from any higher authority.

Towns, cities, counties -- they currently need the permission of their state to pass any laws -- they derive their authority from the state, not inherently.

Sovereignty is a big issue -- if for no other reason than because two different sovereigns can both try you for the same crime. Do we want every county or city being able to have its own independent court system?
