Because the Bible tells you so. Most people choose to live together for the convenience of being able to walk away when the going gets tough. It's not so easy when you are married.
Marriage is sanctioned by GOD and also an acceptable part of society. Living together may be accepted by society, but that doesn't make it right. Neither does having children out of wedlock. In the old days...such children born out of wedlock were called bast----. Not trying to be rude either.

Because marriage is a legal contract. Don't buy that "god" thing about marriage, in the beginning before humanity inveted "god" before there was Christianity there were marriages and they were CIVIL unions. The only time "god" actually enters a marriage is IF the couple being married CHOOSE so.
So, marriage being a contract is legal and binding and only divorce can break it and in divorce each spouse gets an equitable portion of all marital assets as well as debts. When you just live with someone one of the partners can walk away with ALL of the assets leaving the other one with ALL of the debts.

he older people feel that when a man and woman live together they should be married and this is how things were done when they were growing up. Live in relationships are not concerted to be commitment at least that's what i think. Because at any time he or she can leave and your stuck paying bills taking care of children on your own.

Because a marriage is a relationship instituted by God, in an living arrangement both people can easily walk away. In a marriage you can apply for social security, have life, and health insurance together. Many states do not accept common law arrangement when filing for social security, life insurance policies etc. If your good enough to lay down with him or her, then you are good enough to have his last name. Do you really just ant to be known as the girlfriend for the rest of your life? you owe yourself to be MR and MRS.

Marriage is a legal contract (not a religious one, despite what people who claim it's "instituted by God" - if it were religious, then atheists couldn't be married).
Legal contracts are harder to walk away from than live-in relationships, therefore there's the presumption that there's more committment to the relationship.

Marriage is more permanent than just living together...personally I'd say live together FIRST and see if you like it but always be prepared because in that situation its easy for someone to just leave
