In January 07' I was raped by a late 40 year old man. He told me he wanted to have my children & wanted to marry me & all this other BS. Well, after I got away from him, I went straight to the hospital. I got a exam, morning after pill, pregnancy test, & I talked to the cops for about 3 1/2 hours about my horrible experience. Well, since then, all they have done is locate him. Talked to him. Did an "interview" on camera with him as of what happened & did the same with me. And they took pictures of me. That's it.

Why is this process going so slow? I mean it happened 7 months ago! You know how many other people he could be doing the same thing to? Is there any way I can speed up this process so I don't have to think about it every day? It just seems like the police don't give a sh*t about it & just want to drop it.

At the hospital, they even took my clothes. My bra, panties, shirt, & pants.
They gave me some of their "rags" to wear home.

I'm sorry about what happened to you. The wheels of justice turn, but they do not turn quickly.

It seems like you already did everything you were supposed to -- you reported it, you got tested, you cooperated with police. Believe it or not, you already did a lot more than most victims do, and I know how hard it was. But the hardest part is over now.

What I would recommend is that you contact a rape crisis center, victim's advocates' office, or some kind of rape counseling center in your area. They can refer you to a therapist, and even help you navigate the legal part of the process as well. It'll help, I promise.

If you can't find one in your area, please IM or email me. I'd be happy to help you find one. Stay strong! You already went through the hardest part, just stick with it so this creep doesn't victimize someone else.

If you mean the criminal prosecution is going slow...

You need to understand how the criminal process works. Once the police arrest him and charge him, they have a specific amount of time before they have to present the case at trial --- but that clock doesn't start running until he is charged.

So it's in the prosecution's (and your) best interest to get all the evidence and all the investigation and all the legal legwork done first, so that the doesn't get tossed out later.

It's not uncommon for criminal cases to take 2 or more years from the time of the crime until the trial -- that's just they way the system works, especially with the courts being so overloaded with too many cases.

I realize you don't want to hear someone say "be patient" but that's really the best advice right now.
