the aluminum on the bottom? We have already replaced the doors once. They arent that old and we would rather just clean the mold off--it gets under the rubber seal. I know chlorine bleach will kill the mold, but it also ruins the aluminum.

First try vinegar and baking soda together and see if it will remove the mildew also when using the bleach dilute it do not use full strength. It will kill the mildew. If that does not work.
I know this sounds crazy but try WD40. I have done this to my own shower door and the aluminum too. WD40 is a good water repellent. It should not hurt your aluminum. Web site for WD40. http://www.wd40.com/. Click on link to over 2000 uses.

When taking a shower if you would have plenty of air stirring and rinse and wipe the shower dry you would not have anymore problems with water build up or mildew.

I'm not an expert at cleaning mold, but I learned a great way of preventing it from my grandma.

My grandparents build a brand new house in 1953. The tile and grout in the shower STILL looks absolutely new. Here's the secret:

First of all, scrub the tile and doors really well so they're clean.

From then on, after each shower (or after the last person person in line takes their shower), wipe down the walls with a towel. It's faster than using a squeegee, and does a better job. With no moisture, the mold can never grow. No soapscum builds up, and no mineral scale builds up. You basically never have to scrub the tile again. Also, always turn on the exhaust fan or open the window to get rid of the humidity. Mold loves humidity.

Your shower will look clean and new forever.

2 teaspoons of tea tree oil (Wal-Mart pharmacy section) mixed into 12oz water in a spray bottle. Pull the doos off their track and spray . Let sit a few minutes and then wipe clean. It is not corrosive so it won't hurt anything like the bleach, plus it smells good and won't blow you away. Rinsing not required. I use this spray as an after shower spray all ove my showers and tubs as it keeps mold from forming when used this way. Tea tree oil is very inexpensive and well known for its anti fungal properties. It is used in a lot of athletes foot medication.

Tilex Mold & Mildew Spray - a mainstay that I use on a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. Just spray on, wait a short while and then use 'Golden Fleece' scrubbie. Same aluminun clad shower doors for 5 years - no problems. Am also a fan of any 'scrubbing bubbles' type bathroom cleaner. Whatever Tilex doesn't perfect those foam sprays handle.

Try SCRUB FREE - (Ace Hardware). What a find. It is magical.

This will also clean shower doors like magic. We have a well and lots of minerals, we use this on the outside windows as well because our sprinklers sometimes hit the window. It is amazing, worth the price of 2.49 and has OXY in it.
