God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.

The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.

The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.

In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of ours to work...sorry

God: An All, Powerful, All Knowing Being, Who Created Matter, and is Eternal.

It is a possibility that exists, simply because science cannot prove him to not exist.

God must exist, because we are here. Matter is here, and it had a beginning. Proof?
The amount of usable energy in the universe is constantly declining.
If the Universe were eternal, the amount of usable energy would have been used up by now.
Therefore the Universe had a beginning.
For every effect (and beginning) there must be a cause.
Before the universe, there was no matter.
Therefore the universe must have had a non-matter cause. Sounds like God to me.

Hi!

'If' there 'is' a creator, it is NOT the 'god' of the bible/qur'an!

God, Yahweh, Allah, whatever you want to call 'him', has been dreamed up by human beings, to give a rationalisation of everything, to give them stability, a 'watchful' host, a loving father, something to pray to, when things get bad!

Human beings, in my opinion, have had NO interaction or personal correspondence with a 'god', it is a superstition, a belief or faith, nothing more!

The 'God' that is thought of today, the jewish/christian/muslim 'god', has evolved from many 'gods'!

The past gave us 'gods' of the sun, sky, earth, wine, love etc etc

Human beings believed in these 'gods', just as much as the religious today, believe in theirs!

Polytheism, belief in many 'gods', usually had a 'chief god', a leader of the other 'gods', it is this 'god', that evolved into the religious all powerful 'god' believed today.

It has been a trait, in the evolvment of the 'gods' that Earth was female and above, was male, the Earth as mother, the father, in the heavens.
Similar to, father giving the seed to the mother.

This is why 'god' is thought of as male!

In your question: 'Can God exist' ....
It is important to see that this belief in only one 'god' is flawed, it is flawed because there is 'no' proof whatsoever, that there is only one!!

Again, it is just a belief, no facts at all, unless of course, you belief the bible/qur'an, these books however, have been written by men, just like you or myself, so what makes what they state true, that they know, what created the whole universe?
NOTHING!!!

The 'facts' are, that humanity does 'not' know if there is a creator of the universe.
It is 'not' known if there is only one creator, or many creators, there could be a whole race of creators, we just 'do not' know!

I used to term myself as an athiest, i do believe alot of what athiests believe, because we 'must' go forward on facts, not myth.

I cannot ignore however, that the universe 'seems' to be mathematical, something that does or 'could' point to an inteligence!
This inteligence does NOT mean, that i believe in the 'god' of the religious, but i can keep an open mind, on weither the universe was by chance or created!!

I do believe in evolution and that the universe, has also 'evolved', so any inteligence behind it, would have had to think it all out, at the very beginning, starting it all off, then leaving it to be fruitful or multiply!

So, the belief in a 'creator' does NOT mean, that you have to follow 'any' of the religions of today!!!

The BIGGEST question however, weither created 'or' by chance is ........

WHY???????

I describe God as the basic understanding of the Christian God, an all powerful all knowing being that interacts with things that go on on earth. Of course these are not the only definitions of God, as the name varies from those like the late Jerry Falwell (who ascribed to the God mentioned above) or to say, Albert Einstein, who used the word "God" as a synonym for nature and universe.

Can God exist? Of course he could. It's impossible to prove one way or the other whether he/she/it exists or not. Although, as for the Christian God, who seems to have provided such a flawed document as the Bible, I highly doubt it. But God in general, yes he/she/it COULD exist, but since it is impossible to prove if he/she/it does or doesn't exist, or that if he/she/it has an effect or no effect on our lives, it really doesn't matter.

Also, belief does not create. Believing God exist makes he exist no more than believeing a flying spaghetti monster exist. Thats a tired, old example, so I'll put it this way. If a man has a wife, and the man believes with his whole heart and mind that his wife is cheating on him, is it true? Of course not. If the wife is not cheating on the husband, then she simply isn't, it doesn't matter how much he believes it.

If you believe God exists, then he does.

I believe that God is just an excuse for everything that us humans can not explain. For example the universe, how life began and life after death. And the great but worst thing about God is that you can't prove if he exists you can only believe.

If you believe then anything is a possibility.

Without God life wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, but with God life still doesn't make a whole lot of sense but it does fill in the gaps that science can't fill in explaining things like how the human race started, etc.

IT MAY NOT BE A NECESSITY??? YES!! It is possible! I mean people could say that ghosts dont exist because they have never seen one. And because they havent seen one and because the thought of it is so ridiculous then they would say that they arent real. now I am not saying I don't believe in ghosts because I do but that was just an example. And I cannot define God because there is no definition fit for him . He is way to big for words and even with all the dictionaries and Einsteins in the world we still couldnt define him. This question is very stupid and insulting to me and to God to say that he isnt necessary nor possible. As long as you think he is real then he is. But to think he is not well then to you and only you is he not.

And why do you people thumbs down all the christian answers? Is it because you hate us or think we are retarded for saying what we think?? Well thats not very right. You can't just thumbs down all of them without even reading and i assume you dont read them. Christians dont do that to you but you do it to them. So...if you really think that this answer was a waste of my time and your time to even try reading a single word then thumbs down me all you want.

How can a person begin to define a Supreme Spiritual Being who created everything. But if I smile at a little child and receive that child's smile back then I see pure unconditional love. That child who is sinless is close to God. If that child loves its mother then how much more does your Heavenly father love you? Please keep an open and enquiring mind about God. Don't be like me-I wasted 30 years or more before I began to accept His help.
A friend put it to me like this. There are lots of people with long unkempt hair-a bit like mine. Because the hair hasn't been cut doesn't mean there are no barbers. You have to go in to his shop and ask for a haircut.
Similarly if you want/need God in your life you should ask Him.
I pray that you may find Him and that He may guide and protect you always.

Can you exist? What do you see when you look at yourself? Actually, don't look at yourself. Imagine you plant a seed into the ground. You water it, and soon enough something grows out of the ground. Say this 1 seed was a acorn. One day that seed will grow into the Gigantic oak tree with thousands of little acorns capable of growing into 1000s more oak trees. Now think for 1 moment, how did this acorn, a seed, grow into something so amazing. Surely there must be a controller that allows it to grow to this.

To understand the existence of a Creator, you only need to look at the natural world around you, and you will realise that all of this will not have happened by itself. Email me and I would love to speak to you more, ricobadu@hotmail.com.

I'm sorry, but that is such a stupid question that I see no reason to even try to answer it. For a start, the burden is entirely on you to define God; you could mean anything from a vague sense that everything is kinda holy to a creator who made all, can do anything and sees all. This is a philosophy section and the quality of answer depends on the quality of the question, and this is not a good question at all.

"God" and the God concept is a fictitious entity thrust on humanity as a means of social control. The Roman Catholic Church has used this concept for centuries as a means of killing, robbing and maiming millions of people.

"God" as a concept is not an external entity. Any such God would have to comply with the laws of physics to create a universe.

The best definition of "Gods" "Goddesses" and external powers which control is found in the book "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind". It is clearly establish the minds "creates" such demons, gods and fictitious entities.

I hope one day humanity sheds its ties to bicameral tendencies and then the world will start anew!

Hope this helps!
