Everyone has things they want for themselves; material posessions, or more sentimental things--love, support, etc.
However, sometimes, we want things for OTHER PEOPLE, too.

I wanted my sister to have a baby and she FINALLY did, last year. I wanted her to have one because I knew she and her hubby would make great parents and because motherhood is so wonderful AND, I really wanted a little niece or nephew.

I wanted health for several people.
My cousin is dying, so that wish went unfulfilled.

i want my friend to have a healthy baby
her first baby was born with CP and with this one she is already having complications and still has 7 months to go

happiness and serenity for my daughters because they were such unhappy people but i think they have finally found it, at least my oldest has.
