US patriotism involves the belief in the sovereignity of the country and the US Constitution and your willingness to defend your country and its freedoms against all foes both foreign and domestic.

Americans made the mistake of allowing Bush and Cheney to take office and allowing the Bush administration to wreck the US economy. Bush has betrayed the distracted and unaware American people. China is attempting to crash the dollar. On 21 August, Bush will sign away the sovereignity of the United States with the second phase of the globalisation of the Americas called the NAU--North America Union. Fourteen state legislatures are trying to stop this. This week we may face the worse financial crisis in our history, equalled onlyy by the dpression in the 1930's. Americans need to wake up. They're not ignorant, they're confused and don't want to face their situation. Something has to be done. Here is what some are saying:

The destruction of the United States may continue if the financial markets teeter or crash next week. I believe that the plan is to weaken the United States until the American people capitulate and allow the globalists to do what they want, which is:

the destruction of the U.S. Constitution
disarming the average citizen
collapse of the US economy
collapse of the US borders
collapse of American confidence
the electorate confused with propaganda and slanted media
destruction of the American middle class

Unfortunately, there are fears out there that our economy could tank next week. The Fed had to prop-up the stock market three times Friday with billions of dollars. Monday could be a bear.

Fed Orders 2 Trillion Dollars Printed, Put In Circulation
Three separate sources in the U.S. Treasury have told me that this week, the federal reserve ordered TWO TRILLION dollars to be printed! The U.S. Treasury is allegedly running printing presses 24/7 to accommodate that order. Treasury employees were specifically ORDERED not to talk about this to anyone because it could cause economic collapse.

Central banks on both sides of the Atlantic pumped billions into the financial system to calm nerves over an impending credit crunch yesterday - but their actions only served to heighten alarm, leading to a fresh plunge in global share prices.

The fading dollar can be held responsible for our troubles. It isn't the dollar's fault, because it is merely a piece of paper, which is un-backed, and the product of a printing press. It is those who administer and spend it recklessly, who have caused its demise, and who are wrecking our economy and nation. What repercussions does a dollar debasement have? Remember, it is in no way the fault of the citizenry. It is totally the fault of government and the D.C. Gang. All of us are merely the victims. Thank you, Mr. Bush.

Every passing day, this new world order, this so called "free trade", is eroding 150 years of the hard won gains for American small business and employees, but very few people seem to care. How effective the propaganda has been. Americans don't know who they are anymore.

What do American citizens do next? Give-up or fight?

A feeling of pride in your country coupled with loyalty.

Contrary to conservative view of liberals, this definition does allow for dissent on policy. Just because you don't like the policy of whatever leaders are in power at any given time doesn't mean that you don't want the best for your country. Really, if you didn't care, I wouldn't say that you are a patriot.

I think of it as a force holding the country together. It's a focus on things we hold in common, the building blocks of our political state. In the U.S. this can be democratic ideals, idea of freedoms, equality, persuit of happiness, symbols of country and tradition, anthem, holidays and observations, monuments, and value on people and places important in our history.

While some countries are comprised of a single linguistic or ethnic group, and use this as something citizens hold in common, this is not true in the U.S., and should be left out of our thinking about patriotism.

PATRIOTISM is most of the things declared by the various Answers here, and in addition I'd say, that a true patriot will fight against the other things that are FINISHING the United States of America as we saw it a few years ago. You can see them here:

"Welcome to USAWakeUp.org, the web site that was developed to bring enhanced visibility to this new, violent cultural cancer [Terrorism] facing humanity."

Happy reading! :o) Adela

Following blindly a corrupt, bumbling, lying cokehead and National Guard dodger into war.

If you believe that, you certainly don't deserve to be called an American or even more, a Patriot.

Peace

Not supporting those in office who have shown complete contempt for our constitution and the body of our law and showing support for those that do respect it, no matter why party, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation, and supporting the right of everyone to disagree on politics and religion and try to change the law to suit them as an individual so long as those changes do not violate our constitutional law and do not harm others.

Wordy I know, but it conveys more...

Support for the principles your country stands for and/or the principles that it was founded upon.

In the US, that's support for the Constitution, and the guiding principles of life, liberty and happiness set forth in the Declaration.
