Yes you do. Full car licence only covers you as a provisional rider on a moped.

Unfortunately yes. Getting a motorcycle license is not hard at all, it's just annoying. So go sign up for a MSN class and take the written test at the DMV. Takes no more then a week or two.

Yes... a few years back you could ride up to and including a 250cc but the law now states its up to and including 125cc now. Anything over and you need to pass the test...

Check the DMV for your area. The 3 States I have lived in, you had to have a motorcycle endorsement to drive any motorcycle on the roadways.

Hey Andrew,

If you're in the UK - you don't have to pass a test, but you do have to do your CBT (on a 125cc) after which you are restricted to 33bhp for two years or untill you pass your test (if you take the test on a bigger bike!)

This link will give you all the details and links you need.

Good luck - enjoy!

i dont think its actually down to the size of the engine but to the amount of power the bike produces. If you can fit a limiter to the engine to get it under the limit it is legal to ride it with "L" plates on your car license. In the UK thinks its about 35 bhp and under. You still need to pass your cumpulsary basic training (CBT) to legally ride though. Usually a days training with a test at the end.

you do have to take a test, but if you passed your driving test before 1996 ( I think) you can do a direct access course. This entitles you do learn and complete a test on a bike of 500cc....You will have to check this out though...
