in essence turboache is a feature that uses PCI-E bandwidth to let the graphics card render directly to system memory ..

TurboCache technology by Nvidia and HyperMemory by ATI combines onboard graphics memory with memory shared from system RAM. These cards are cheap because of the small (64-128mb) onboard videoram. But when playing games that require more video ram, it "steals" some more from system RAM.
