my fish's colours are fading theyre pretty dull, i have 2 and the other one seems alright. i changed there water today..coudl the shock have soething to do with it? well i'm just wondering what i can do to make ti better and is he still healthy? thanks so much!

tank or bowl?
heater? or not
water same temp before adding it ?
water conditioned before added?

I noticed that when my betta flares it's gills several times in a row his color becomes mottled, darker & dull looking, but after a while it fades back to his relaxed coloration. It could be stress from a temperature change in the water, or perhaps he can see the other betta or his own reflection somewhere in the tank causing him to flare. His relaxed coloration will return as long as he does not remain stressed

SORRY TO SAY IT BUT HE IS ABOUT TO DIE MY SON HAD A BETA FOR 2 YEARS. IT STARTED TO FAD IN COLOR AND HE DIED ABOUT A WEEK LATER
