If a compound causes cancer-cell apoptosis in vivo, how likely is it to do the same in vitro?

Generally speaking, its easier to induce a particular outcome in a test tube than in the body. So you've already got it in the body (in vivo), it's probably more likely to happen in vitro ("in glass").

If the in vitro conditions mimic appropriately the in vivo conditions, I would think you would get apoptosis. In vivo experiments might help isolate any necessary in vivo conditions, if such exist!
