You should not breed ferrets. They're very hard to breed and the mother often has trouble delivering. You will also have to breed her EVERY time she goes into heat or the estrogen build up will kill her. Also, an unneutered male ferret can be very aggressive during breeding tuime and they are very smelly, even when they are descented.

Most of these folks have already offered you sound advice. Breeding ferrets are for serious and knowledgeable people only. You think the odor and blood will be bad...how about the spraying urine and defecating everywhere. You think a neutered ferret is hard to litter train...not even close. 10 times worse with an intact male and female. I'm almost positive you do not want to do this.

You need to be very serious about this. A friend of mine and I made the mistake many years ago of thinking we should breed ferrets and we were sorry we did. They smell horrible when not spayed or neutered. The male bites the female violently when breeding and she gets all bloody. The babies were impossible to sell--we ended up giving them away. Just some things to think about. And yes, you have to breed every spring or the female can have fatal anemia. We bought our ferrets from a breeder in Texas, you'll have to look on line or in the back of ferret magazines for names. They were shipped to us by plane. A lot of money and definitely did not pay for itself!

You would need to go to a private breeder. You can find a listing here.... http://www.weaselwords.com/page/links_breeders.php
Most, however, will require that you sign a contract agreeing that the ferrets will be altered at the appropriate age and not bred.

Why would you want to breed ferrets? There are plenty of ferret rescues out there. They need homes, not babies.
