No, it is not legal.
Yes, that or similar is done all the time.
NH DOT, State Police, and local police do not seem to enforce the EPA noise emission standards. They will, however enforce the State and local levels when they feel like. Most notably during Bike Week in June.

If you are not obnoxious, you will be left alone.
If you are, they may hassle you.

The State Troopers point out my bike to each other for how it looks, not how it sounds.
My bike is quieter than many in this area.
I have no baffles in my current exhaust (at all).
It's all in how you set it up.

It's the noise level they care about, I run drag pipes with no baffles and never got a ticket, but I just lope when I'm in a residential area, in town, or a State Trooper gives me a funny look.

Wantsd some noise??? Poke a couple holes iin the catalitic converter. and the muffler...You can do it as long as don't get caught. If you have vehicle inspections you will fail...

The police are looking for the noise level. One thing about changing the standard exhaust though, the engine is usually "tuned" to standard specs and it will run badly if you don't have it re-tuned after altering.

who cares about legal? part of ridding a motorcycle is about breaking rules , unscrew or drill out the baffles, rejet or remap the fuel system

if you want it to rust out real fast drill some holes, not only will it sound crappy it will cost you.

yes,read your manual,it is very much againist the fedaral law to change or modifly any part of the exhaust

no its not illegal as long as you dont get caught i do it all the time even to peoples bikes i dont know. another problem solved by plainkton (~~~~~~~<
