The reaction is called an acetal formation which in the presence of dry or gaseous HCL(catalyst) in the given aldehyde and alcohol solution will give an acetal. Therefore the answer is d (1,1-dimethoxypropane).

Compound C. The alcohol will add to the aldehyde under these conditions. It will certainly not produce an ester!
