I'm not the openly affectionate type so i feel weird when people hug me or say they like me or whatever. I want that but I just don't know what to do with it. Sometimes i feel like when a group of people im with are just meeting each other and exchanging numbers, that i don't have to give out my number or take anyone elses...not because im rude or mean, but because i don't think they really like me or at least not the real me, even if they say they do. I don't take people saying they like me seriously. Whats my problem do you think?

I fully understand what you're saying here, and firstly let me just say this "The world isnt out there to get you", You shouldnt have to worry wether or not they like you, let alone worry about if they're just saying it to be nice, the people you meet, are NOT trying to fool you in any way they're just being honest, even if you're not the openly affectionate type thats perfectly ok alot of young women are the same, but You also comment that you want to be but you dont know what to do with it? Well you have three choices, one you can accept it and be greatful, two you can ignore it and be anti-soical" or three explain to them the type of person you are, No one will dislike or hate the real you as long as you know in yourself that you are a good person, You're not out there to make other people's lifes hell so you really have nothing to worry about, its all in the mind, just be more open to suggestion and you'll be fine, One small step at a time I say :)

True, some people are fakes, but, you have to find people you really like being around and really feel yourself 'click' with.
You'll, sort of, know who you click with because, you'll like similair movies, similair and have similair interests. You'll also know if you click when people ask if you're going to be somwhere or where you're at when you're not around. Not everyone will ask that - just the ones that interested in you in some way. You'll also be able to tell if people like you if the same people are always around you; if you laugh at the same things and don't mind not doing anything - just as long as their around you. If people didn't want your number, they wouldn' ask for it. If people didn't like you ar want to hang out with you, they wouldn't. I have self esteem issues, but, I am able to guage who likes me and who doesn't. People who say they don't care if people like them or not have pronlems socializing with others or fitting in - people are social creatures. We were, be design, meant to cohabitate, communicate and interact with other humans. Don't feel put off by people who seem insincere or overly interested in you, find the people you like hanging out with and go (grow) from there. Hope this helps a little.

I have the same problem.Most of that comes from my family being so cold to eachother.But being and loving yourself is one of the first steps.You shouldnt have to change for anyone only for the betters of life.

Monica r is right, be your self, then people see you as you are, and not someone who is putting up a front that fools no one, if you are lacking confidence don't worry, it grows stronger in time.

Open up and let people know the real you. I know, it's hard, but do it. Let them know the real you, and if they still like you, then you'll know that they liek you for who you really are.
