No, it wasn't real. I don't know what kind of mind games the other people here are trying to play, but as talkingback said, they show how it was done in the extras on the DVD. The needles were made of rubber and the ones sticking in her were cut in half and applied to her skin on small latex disks they were attached to. Not only would one would ever dive into a pit of real hypodermic needles, no insurance agency would post a bond for something like that. It's all FX.

Yes, they really constructed the Needle Pit in Saw 2 - it was composed of about 100,000 needles. And then they put the FX guy in there to make it "safe" for someone to jump into - imagine having the job of replacing 100,000 real needle points with movie special FX needle points and making sure you didnt miss not even ONE of them?
And imagine having to toss yourself into that pit 100 times for the takes just to get it "right"?
But yeah, it's REAL.... That's what makes everything about SAW and SAW 2 so horrifying.... you can ask the actors and they will say "What props? I thought I was going to die!" for every type of horror trap in both movies!

Yes it is real. They talk about it in the bonus features on one of the dvds. The needles were not only real but the actor actually got stuck several times. :-)

no. if u watch the making, everything is like rubber and they just atatch (?) the fake needles to her with make-up and stuff.
