God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.
The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.
The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.
In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being, supernatural entity or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, some will have good things happen to them and some not, some will blame the invisible entity but objective reality wins all the time....no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of theirs to work...sorry
And why does bad things happen to good people all the time? When the tectonic plates crash into each other causing human calamity, they don't worry about Karma, good and bad, evil and riteousness. Life's paths are made up of randon circumstances, some predictable and some not. Most religious people will state that god has a 'bigger' plan for them and humans in general, that we can't know the 'big picture.' Most say there can't be good unless we know or experience the depths of evil.
Is it fair to have predation, disease, deformities, child rape, parasites and evil in the world? If the answer is yes, then with god(s) like that, who need them?

You mention several things. It seems to me that when nations go to war, people not God do the killing.
- that there is enough food, but when there is war, 15 Billion $ a month is affordable, however, when it is about food or other help-- the priority is lacking. Is that God's fault? or is it our fault?
Yes, God did put people to death in the past. Sodom and Gomorrah were examples of judgment for evil acts. If God doesn't have the right to judge, why then do our judges? Who is higher? Who has more right to judge than the creator who owns all things?
If you think of mentioning what happened when the Israelites took in possession the promised land, there is this to consider:
God promised Abraham this land. Why didn't Abraham get it right away? What do you think?
God told Abraham that the sin of the people living in the land had not been completed yet. Thus when the Israelites started taking possession, the nations living there had completed their sin and like Sodom&G. were judged by God to deserve the death penalty. That God used an executioner to serve this judgment --how is this different from the manner the US and other governments execute prisoners?
So before you start judging God, perhaps for your own judgment's sake, you ought to study the history about this.

Some will say that God is above those things, and he is, in a way. If he did those things, he must've done it for a reason, probably to oen of the biggest offenses against God: persecution of his chosen people, the Jews. Another excuse might be to make sure people follow the rules. One should fear the High being and those types of punishment will make the most stupid ones fearful of his Divine Power.
Also remember that the Bible was written by men, but that's another topic, is it not?

Let's not get on our high-horse here. We do this all of the time. We let policemen do things citizens are not allowed to do; we let soldiers do things we cannot do, and we let the president and judges and teachers and parents and children and dogs and cats and race car drivers and boxers and every group of people the ability and the right to do things that we may not be allowed to do or get away with. It's called the nature of existence. There are just things that God can and should do that we cannot ... but one thing we should not do, and that is attempt to take God's place by telling God what to do or judging God.

By what logic? God logic!
Do you really think that man is ready or capable to understand the nature and reasoning of God?
The conceit of philosophy is that it actually believes it can wrap its discipline around the concept of God!
You really need to complement your Philosophy with Theology, or you'll always be seeking that which Philosophy has no answer! Ha!

You confuse the biblical 'god' with an actual being. The actuality is that we are all a part of creation. Nothing that we 'are' is unlike ourselves or 'god'. This is why I choose NOT to believe biblical limitations.
