I'm 5'6" 170 lbs and not looking to do 130 mph. Just something to cruise along at 70 and backroads. Maybe short day trips.

It's a nice bike, but you have to understand it's a bike for absolute beginners. It's a 650 but performance isn't much better than a 250. Around town it's great because it's nimble. On the highway it can be a little tiresome because it struggles to keep up.

I bought one about a year ago for the ol' lady to learn to ride on. They are fairly torquey and can run 80 mph without much problem, but I wouldn't recommend one for long trips. Mine is an older model with a 4 speed tranny, so it winds up pretty tight at hwy speeds. not too bad for around town. If your average to tall, you may find the leg position a little cramped.
Like the other answers given, not a bad starter bike.

I'm gonna be the oddball here as I have an '04 with 23k miles on it now and this summer rode from NY to VA with my buddies on a BMW 1200GS and a Honda Gold Wing and the bike did fine, I just needed gas alot more often than they did! Maybe that makes me a wuss but so be it, I love this bike! And I'm not exactly a lightweight...

I had one and I liked it, sold it when I got divorced. It's a good, simple bike with a plus..no chain lube spraying on your jacket! It uses a belt drive which is a lot cleaner than a chain.
