In material existence, a living being creates his own chain of fruitive work and enjoys the good and bad effects of those actions life after life. Good karma means you enjoy some material happiness; bad karma means you suffer from material distress. By good karma you get birth in a good family; you get riches, you become a learned scholar; you also become beautiful.
There are eight million species or forms of life. Somebody is in the cat's body. Somebody's dog's body. Somebody's in human being's body. Somebody is in demigod's body. These bodies are offered by prakriti(mother nature) according to price you pay. This is called karma. This is karma. If you perform good karma, then you get good body. Janmaiçvarya-çruta-çréù [Srimad Bhagavatam 1.8.26]. This is the janma. You get good birth, you get money, you get education, and you become beautiful by pious activities. And by impious activities, just the opposite. So either you get this or that, after all, it is birth and death.
So the millionaire and the genius are reaping the benefits of good karma, and the pauper and the dunce, having committed sinful activities, are getting their just deserts. Perhaps we would like the system better if everyone became a millionaire or a genius, but the purpose of the law of karma is not to provide us a cozy homestead in the material world. The purpose is to bring us to the point of asking the all-important question: "How can I escape from the painful cycle of birth and death?"

you cannot create karma by doing good or bad. karma just "is". karma is inside of you. if doing "good" creates a feeling for you then you will expect others to do "good" to create those feelings for themselves. not all people return good gestures or deeds, however if you continue to do good deeds without concern for any return from anyone or from the universe, you will grow spiritually and be at peace with yourself and the world which is karma. Remember that you know "right from wrong" this is the simple premise that is karma.

Yes, but sometimes you can get your good karma in your next life, thats why you need to make sure that you do your good deeds in this life, to make sure you have a better life nexttime. What you do now, will affect you later.

I believe what goes around comes around. I think bad deeds come back to us so we can learn from our mistakes. To do a good thing to get a reward is the wrong attitude. Do good for the sake of doing good...to grow in love.
Biblically:
Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery & they in turn were imprisoned.
Jacob deceived his father & was in turn deceived by his father-in-law.
Esther risked her life for others and in turn her life was spared.

I believe that if it is my destiny to live forward as I have lived past; that my deeds will be rewarded as I conveyed them.

it's what we hope for, but not the primary reason to be good to one another.
It should be because it's the right thing to do.
