Do you think he's successful in his serious roles, eg, The Holiday, King Kong, or do you think he is more suited to his Tenacious D act?

He is mostly a comedic actor, to the point where it threw me off a bit when he was a dramatic actor in king kong, he could potentially be a credible dramatic actor but he needs to earn it and probably do more dramatic roles and less comedic ones, although the comedic ones do bring in more money right now, but for his future he should probable try a wider variety of roles since he likely can't keep up this kind of comedic character completely as he gets older

Funny man definitely, I wasn't to keen on Tenacious D, I much preferred School of Rock, actually my brother has his album and it's hilarious, but he sounds alright in it?!

All though I do think it's commendable that he is able to do both serious and funny, unlike Jim Carrey, who I cannot bear in serious films, tried to watch "23" but had to turn it off when he was pleasuring this dominatrix type lady. Have a nice day now ;0)

A great question but really what we know… lets just go with the current for now… JB is certainly a great actor but in Hollywood—its not always about great actors or actresses that makes a great movie or two… sometimes most of it is about having a scripted scenes , casts, directors and those individuals putting everything aside and bring out a character that everyone could relate to. **a great paycheck of few million, we all can assume that any actor or actress will play a terrific role the money is worth. **

He seems to be more of a funny man to me, but I really liked him in King Kong and The Holiday.

i think he suits tenacious D acts because he does look like a serious actor e.g school of rock.um not saying he is bad but he is suited funny e.g nacho libre.

it's still a little weird to see him being serious, but I bet in time he could be a great serious actor. But I bet he would still want to do funny roles, which would keep him from being a serious actor.

His face is far too funny to be a serious actor. It's the glint in his eye.
