Is it DVD-R or DVD-RW combo, or just plain DVD/CD-RW combo drive? You can only play non DVD-Rs (like regular movie and game DVDs) in your DVD/CD-RW combo.

Do you have a DVD decoder installed? Windows Xp cannot play DVD movies without a software decoder. DVD ROM makers often include one with their driver CD.

try reinstalling the software, it might work or run your defrag lots of people dont know what that is lol
