Aaron is a Hebrew name (He was Moses' brother in the Bible.) Erin is a name for Ireland. They aren't male/female variations of each other.
As for the names I would choose Eric over Erin for a boy.

Eric is a male name. The female comperable would be Erika
Erin is a girls name. The male comperable is Aaron
My daughter is expecting a baby and if it is a boy it will be named Aaron, if a girl she is trying to figure out a female spelling like......Aaren or Ayron. or Aaryn Aaronne
I love all those names
