Humans are mammals, not apart from any other mammal. They are not a seperate thing all together. So how could there be an exact first human?

No one effectively believes that there were two people, male and female, who were the first humans on this earth, even as much as people would like to suggest so. For those who do suggest it, there is always the problem of where did Cain and Able find their wives? Obviously there were indeed other people on the earth. What we have are arch types, a metaphoric story that tells an important moral story and explains why evil came into the world, why people are here the way we know them today (by the way, it is very interesting to note that modern people and cave people lived at roughly the same time, for awhile). Think meaning here, not literalism, and all will be well,.

There can't have been two "first people" on earth. Evolution is a gradual thing, so there must have been a whole species which gradually evolved into what we are today. Still, you can always name those first guys half Eve, and half Adam, if you like :) The two from the Bible are fictional characters, I'm afraid.

But, I'm not religious, and I think they do exist.
