Don't be so sure all of them are copyright infringers. One of my avatars is my very own foot. It gets more dirty mail than my cartoon avatar and I had to take it down.

For me, it's not about being unoriginal, it's about choosing not to put a picture of myself on the internet. No one's gonna meet me, so what does it matter what anyone looks like. I don't care whose pics are real & whose are not. I figure the pics are there to rep their personality anyway.
