Go see your doctor and get on a birth control pill. I do not know much about the patches or shots, but I know that the pill does work. It is most effective and least likely to fail if you take it the exact same time every day (24 hours apart, exactly). The more you deviate from this, the more likely it is that the method could fail.
If you are nervous about an unexpected pregnancy, you should use other forms of birth control as well, like condoms, especially if you are not in a committed relationship with someone who has been tested for STDs and HIV.
Good luck!

Check into IUDs. It's a small little copper T that they place inside your uterus. There's one that releases hormones and lasts 7 years and then there's a non-hormonal one that lasts for ten. The way I understand is that it stops your ovaries from dropping into your uterus. There are side effects for some women so you'll have to do research. I got one put in after I had my daughter and haven't had any problems. If you and your husband decide later that you want children you can always have it removed. It's been great not to have to worry about having to take the pill everyday or having to worry about needing a condom.

The wonderful world of contraception is produced for exactly this.
Most Birth control is 99% effective. Combine more than one method at once, like using pills and condoms, for example, to make sure it's safe.
