Another unfortunate question that blinks at the will. Man thus far is a symmetry, a ratio. He IS ratiocinative, acting out from the primal will. This "power of reason" is no actual power at all, but instead, a dangerous conceit. For all who merely cope with fear, give them patience. Will gathers all the petty fears together and overcomes them, face-to-face, in a mortal confrontation, saying, "Fear...ME!" Reasoning, perhaps even thought, is thus rendered inutile to a world of objects and to ideas that are improperly objectified.

To make a real cognitive shift from fear to reason would be effective, but cognitive shifts happen very seldom through rationality. We have beliefs that are programmed in without our even being aware of them. There is a site that can teach you how to reprogram your beliefs. emofree.com

We have fear for a reason. It is an alarm system. If you wish to disable it then by all means be my guest. I need my fear. It has kept me out of a lot of hot places.

No. I read that horrible Steven King book about a clown coming out of the gutters to grab kids when I was young. No matter how I reasoned with myself about there being no way this can happen, I still avoided gutters.
The thing that removes fear is love. The purest form of love is from God. "Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine." (Isaiah 43:1)
I dropped the superstitious stuff when I became a Christian.
