If you try to start it up again with the Last Known Working Configuration option or something similar to that, you may be able to get it working again.
If you can't get it to work either way, you may want to try to reformat and reinstall Windows on the computer or possibly take it to some type of repair shop and see if they can fix it for you.
I hope that your computer works and that I helped you!

The easy choice is to open with last good config. If that doesn't work, open in safe mode. If that works, you may have a corrupt driver. I had this problem with my PC last week, and it was a corrupt Wireless Adapter driver. My Computer>Properties, Hardware. For each device, you can search for new drivers, install fron CD, etc.
Now, if you can't open in Safe Mode, you may be looking at a harddrive error. There are two good choices here. First, your boot sector may be corrupt. Second, it may be a more general harddrive failure. If you have the original Windows installation CD, you can put this in the CD drive and launch in Recovery mode. Just be careful not to do a Reinstall, since at this point you want to save your data, and a Reinstall (or just the install) will reformat your harddrive at which point you have lost your data.

Put in your operating system install disk and repair option will come up use those utilities to repair your registry and then remove all recently installed soft ware and drivers. Which operating system do you have? XP home, proffesional (32 or 64) VISTA basic, premium, ultimate, (32bit or 64) etc...? There are differant options for each os Reformatting at this point is way to drastic if you dont want to loose programs which need a key and pass words

Do a restart and start clicking continuously F10 key as soon as you click the power button to try to go into the "System Recovery" menu or screen... Once you get into that screen go into System restore...I think you have to click the advance button...Then try to restore your laptop to a earlier time prior to having the problems....
Don't reformat without trying this first!!! Or you will loose all your files on your harddrive!!!
