Almost all of the Dem Presidential candidates, incluling Hilary, have now stated that US troops will stay in Iraq for MANY years.

So can the Democrat party still be called the cut & run party or aren't they as neocon as the neocon GOP?

If the Democrats have said this, then yes -- they have joined the Republicans in ignoring the will of the American people, and have become just as insanely locked into an illogical and irrational "shut your eyes and hope it gets better" world.

The Democrats have reversed their agenda since they were elected, which was the only purpose for promising to end the Iraqi war in the first place. They knew from the very beginning that U.S. troops will be in Iraq for decades, perhaps generations - just as U.S. troops are still in Japan, Korea and Germany.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense would recognize that the U.S.A. plans to be in Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL from that land's sands. Why else would we be building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration?
Why else would Halliburton be building fourteen (yes- 14) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq??
The Democrats knew, just as the Republicans knew, that our "national interest" in Iraq would be "protected" at any cost, and for any length of time (interpret 'national interests' to mean: "What's all OUR oil doing underneath all THEIR sand?").
Americans represent only 5% of the global population, yet squander 55% of the world's resources. We need that OIL so we can continue driving gas-guzzling SUVs and Hummers instead of fuel-efficient cars like the rest of the world drives (or instead of riding mopeds, bicycles; using mass transit; or walking).
From the very first day in the Oval Office, the evil, corrupt Bush administration knew it was going to attack Iraq. 9-11 provided the excuse as emotions ran high and gullible Americans let Bush run rip shod over our Constitution.
All the "Republicrats" knew this insane 'war' was all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING from the very beginning. -RKO- 08/12/07

Politicians, journalists, and most Americans are knee-jerk non-thinking reactionaries.

All of the fools think that the war is winnable now that the surge is on.

They forget that the surge is not sustainable without a massive increase in active troops.

We would need a draft to keep up the numbers.

A draft would be a national nightmare.

A personal nightmare for those drafted, a huge advantage for those not drafted.

The war is not winnable. Check the writings of Winston Churchill and the first President Bush.

Both of those guys knew about winning wars, and fighting them.
