I am looking for a fairly simple and repetitive afgan pattern that I can knit on the road. I am traveling 20 hours across the country in a vehicle and and looking for something to occupy my time that won't have me constantly looking back and forth from a pattern sheet. Anyone have any patterns?

i'm making a blanket right now and its pretty easy, i'm using the seed stitch (k1, p1) with size 13 circular needles. and its coming out quite nicely! * i would definitely recommend using circular needles...theyre a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of them, they are great for blankets! oh if you want an actual pattern, lionbrand.com has good free ones! good luck!

lionbrand.com has some nice simple options.
Also look at http://knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/afghans.php
Or you could always make up your own. Just chose a width you'd like, cast on and start knitting until you get to a good lenth. You can straight knit the whole thing, that's as simple as you can get, though you might get bored after a while.

Just straight knit, as in knit one side and purl the other for the width that you want. Continue knitting until you have the length you want. No pattern needed, just count your stitches.

Have you considered just picking a stitch and then knitting that over and over again? If you go to knitting.about.com they have a stitch library with some nice stitches that would be good for an afghan.
