you can make your computer into a local area network domain virtual server, no problems there, When it comes to wide area networking thats where your problems begin, I won't go through the details on that point.

As for network server software it comes FREE. if you use Linux open source software.. Microsoft will charge you a bundle for their server software, plus you have to pay them an annual license free, (not cheap) for all the MS software on the network server you are using,

if you're interested in building a network, you can get (also free) all the tutorials on installing and setting up a server from any Linux distribution site. with all the help you will ever need, from the linux user groups and forums,

for downloading free network server software try the web sites below. it is hoped you have DSL broard band internet, to download LINUX..

Linux Sever software is 6 cd, or one dvd at 3.5 gigabite. with that you will get everything you will ever need. not only for networking but every other package of software and it will cost you nothing, only your time downloading, and the cd/dvd's to burn the software on. and by the way Linux puts microsoft to shame. all you need do is do some research into Linux... there are many versions of linux... it is a case of picking the one that suites you the most..
hope this helps you out...

here is three sites to download linux from

Your computer with the IIS should do it. You just need a domain name, and point your domain to your DNS server.

Then in IIS setup the folder you want to host your web site in.

What you are wanting to do is host your on web site on your own computer. You should have a high-speed Internet and a battery backup (UPS) in case the power goes out.

You can buy a domain name for about $9.00 at godaddy.com.
