Had a knee injury not to long ago. It recovered, to an extent, but still bugs me from time to time. How can I get my knee back to normal (or at least as best I can) without medications of any kind. I don't want to be reminded of this when I'm much older and don't ever want surgery. Has anybody had any luck with this and what should I do?

I have answered another question of your's about the same, considering your symptoms I would suggest you start taking these two homeopathic remedies immediatly for your knee injury problems, ARNICA MONTANA and RHUS TOX both in 30X or 30C potency three times a day half an hour before meals. To start the treatment you can take them every half an hour till you start feeling relief after that the regular dosage till 100% relief is advised. Relief within three doses guaranteed the cure will take some time but I assure you, you will be feeling relieved within three doses.

Best of Health to you.

Take Care and God Bless you.

About 8 years ago I fell on my left knee and injured it big time. I was told then I needed knee surgery, I said no way. I exercised a lot and I was stilling working so I was standing and walking a lot. I took Joint Pills and it seemed to help for a while. Hurt the most in the cold weather [ California ].
Then we retired to Arizona where is it warm all the time and the knee seemed to be getting better. About 2 weeks ago the knee gave out in the store and I went down >>>>>>
where else on top the it of cause. Went to a doctor, I have broken the bone on the left side of the left knee and I need surgery [ but my Med insurance won't pay for it ] so I will now suffer.
If I had the surgery 8 years ago I would not been in consent pain as I am now.
Moral of all this: Don't expect anything to return to normal cause it won't, not without the proper treatment. I don't like operations of any kind but sometimes they are necessary.
At the time all this started I was 62 - I am now 70. I will always have pain - I will always be taking pain pills and putting cold packs on the knee.
If this is what you want to look forward to { THEN GO FOR IT }
it's your life.
Never be able to walk around a mall for to long, talk walks with your hubby play with your great grandchildren. Sounds like a wonderful life...

An injury to the knee, or any joint, alters the bio mechanical integrity of that joint. This is why the joint will have an increased chance of becoming arthritic compared to an un-injured joint. The fact that the knee still causes pain says the results of the injury are still present. This is quite common. You can try strengthening the soft tissues around the knee by exercising, or spinning. I like spinning because it is no-impact and strengthens the muscles. Bike riding is also very good if you do not use too high of a gear, keep the rpm's at around 75 to 80. Make sure that you wear good supportive shoes as bad shoes increases the stress on feet, knees, low back etc. Try taking glucosamine and most important don't do anything stupid to re-injure the knee.

Physical therapy is important when something like this happens. You don't have to pay for this, you can do exercises in your own home. Do leg lifts, putting small weights on your ankles to help. Do knee bends, laying on your back starting out with your legs straight up in the air. Then bend your legs, using ankle weights for this one as well. These types of workouts will help increase mobility, gain strength and will help to avoid future problems, i.e. arthritis.
