or have you not noticed:
1) you jobs are going overseas
2) slave laborers are bein imported with HB1 visas to take your jobs
3) Illegals are allowed to break law and waltz right in and take more jobs and depress wages
4) Big oil is making killer record profits while gas prices are at record highs
5) Your national budget spends more than it takes in from tax revenues and the difference is made up by borrowing money from communist china..yeah....RED china..the ones with the nuclear weapons pointed at us, and who have vowed to take Taiwan back by force if need be and building the armed forces to make it happen. The same red China that supplies weapons to our enemies throughout the world, weapons being used right now to kill our soldiers in Iraq.
6) Noticed how apathetic our elected leaders seem to be to embarking on a major push to wean ourselves from oil? in light of several reasons why its to our economic, geostrategic, and ecological benefit to do so?

You should have added growing stupidity of the masses to your list too. As evidence, I point to the guy above me who just told you to move from the country because you are warning your fellow citizens of major problems that you see.
I guess he prefers to keep his head in the sand.
yes. I have noticed all the things you mentioned, and it shows that our leaders are basically working against us and not for us.

Globalization has replaced putting the U.S. citizens first within our government. I suspect this is all part of a larger plan to drive down wages in the U.S. to make us more competitive in the world market. While we want immediate solutions to the changes taking place in the world, the more gradual it is the better. It is definitely changing the face of America along with many other issues that are subtle but impossible to ignore.
Our interest in bio fuels is also an indication that our country wants to hang on to the same kind of dependence we have on our oil companies. There are engines that run on compressed air and hydrogen which can be made in your garage. These kinds of energy would only be beneficial to each individual and not beneficial to the economy as a whole, although great for the environment. I doubt that the U.S. will pursue them because, so far, they can't tax air and water to the extent they can oil or bio fuels.

1) America needs to create new jobs: We must begin to shape the post-industrial society: that means a stronger emphasis on an educated work force. The days when most Americans made their living on a factory line should be passing, we just need to work on finding the new industry. My father did not work on a factory line so i could do the same. As John Adams said "I was a farmer so my son could be a merchant and he will be a merchant so my grandson can be an artist"
2) and 3) HB visas and undocumented workers are currently vital to the American economy; until we embrace our immigrant past and welcome these people were are doomed to have an under-class that is both exploited and unmanageable
4) True: And more to the point Big Oil is funding Muslim Terrorism and so are we when ever we start our big gas guzzling cars. We give money to oil companies, oil companies give money to Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia funds terrorism we are our own worst enemy
5) Agreed, but
6) It is not the fault of our leaders it is our fault. A leader who calls for hard choices to solve our problems is not embraced by the masses and so cannot get elected. The fault "Dear Brutus lies not in the stars but in ourselves"

Great question.
Notice how many here will say the government is blameless. That is not true, because government policies encourage or discourage things that they want or do not want. The reason outsourcing occurs is because elected officials pass laws that encourage it . The same thing applies to illegals. If the elected officials wanted it stopped it would have been. The same thing with China. China used to be our enemy and many still say China is our enemy, but the officials have decided that cold war tactics that defeated the soviet union via isolation should not be used against China. We all know the reason behind all these things---MONEY AND GREED !!!

Yep, that is why I'm independent. Our debt to China is one of the biggest issues. The borrower is truly slave to the lender. We cut our own throat because China could wreck our economy. Big reason for small government. But I don't know the solution for outsourcing jobs. I'd like to know how to stop it with minimal government intervention. Honestly. If anyone has a solution, I'd like to know.
As far as foreign oil independence, been saying that since early 90's. First Gulf War. But don't hold your breath. All one can do is reduce your personal use of oil. Pushing demand down.

Two different trends in opposite directions.
Jobs going overseas is because of capitalism -- free market economy -- businesses can get better for cheaper overseas than they can locally. The only 'solution' is for the govt to regulate business even MORE, and limit who businesses are allowed to work with -- in effect, directly against capitalism.
Govt spending is the opposite problem -- the govt doing too much -- too many social programs -- to much foreign aid -- to much spending overall -- the solution is to have the govt do LESS.

Yeah, yeah........................... A lot of people realize what is going on, but until people unite, things will stay the same. Sad but true. As long as we keep on working and paying our bills and worrying about our families, they are screwing us. And I know that most people don't have the time to protest, but one day you are going to look in the mirror and say, "Why didn't I do anything?"

oil companies are making more money because more oil is being sold, not because the price is higher. The price is higher because of supply and demand (there is more oil being demanded than before, and there are fewer refineries [katrina destroyed one] because the over strict regulations placed by the liberals.
simple economics.
I doubt you are aware that most of the oil consumed in the U.S. is drilled in the U.S. or offshore, and that Canada is the number one importer of oil in the U.S.
