2x - 3 < 2(x - 3)
x - 1.5 < x - 3 [divide equation by 2]
x < x - 1.5 [add 1.5 to both sides]

This equation has no solutions, though it's not as obvious in the original form as it is in the simplified form above. There is no number in existence which, when you subtract 1.5 from it, gets *larger*.

If you completely solve the equation and cancel out the x's you get an impossibility: 0 < -1.5. Whenever you get to a simplified form which looks like that, the equation has no solution (or you made a mistake in calculating).

=================

x+4/2<5

Assuming you mean: (x+4)/2 < 5

(x + 4)/2 < 5
x + 4 < 10
x < 6

Assuming you mean: x + (4/2) < 5, which is technically what is written:

x + (4/2) < 5
x + 2 < 5
x < 3
