If death is a necessary part of life why do we fear it so much?
In nature death can bring new life.

Thanks beck and centreofinfinity, should we not embrace the unknown. If theres nothing there then theres nothing to fear.
Is it because we are programmed with the thought of hell?

i think people are scared of death because of the unknown. no one has died for a long period of time and came back to life to tell us what we can expect on the other side. i do not fear death because that is the begging of your life in heaven with god and his angels.i am more scared of who is going to president than about death.

We are programed by nature to fear death. Without the fear of pain and death , nothing would make any effort to protect itself from death , most life would cease .
Old age death is just a natural occurance in life's cycle. I am way up there, and have absolutely no fear of death. I have lived my life, worked hard, helped those who I was able to, fought hard for my country ( W W 2 ), practiced self improvement - morals- and honesty. In another year or two, I will leave with no regrets, fear, or expectation of any type of after-life. My only regret will be leaving my wife alone. We have spent a life-time together, without so much as raising our voices to each other.

Maybe people fear dying rather than death. The pain or tortue one may go through to die is a very scary idea. I don't think we should fear death just live our lives with the idea that we should grasp every opportunity as we will not be around forever.

In the words of Teddy Roosevelt, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"

It is not death we fear, it is the unknown.

Also, we prefer to think that we are immortal rather than vulnerable to death.

We forget that life is momentary. That we never know which moment will be our last. Even as I write this, the concept of ME dying is very removed from my thought process.

Life is a very strange thing and so is death.

A very thought provoking question.

of course we'll be scared of death.but not all the people are scared of it.because after death we have to meet our God who have created us.we should face the day of judgment what we have done on the earth.so if we did bad things we 'll be afraid of its punishment(the torment of fire).& if we did good things we 'll be rewarded of that.after death it'llbe judged if heaven is for us or hell.

Death can change your surroundings completely. You lose everything you have, everything you have worked for or made you happy or sad. It is this massive change that we fear.

One should always remember death. It can come at any time.
