Do not handle it. They can be rabid. I would leave it alone and let it fare for itself. Have you ever noticed the dazed young bird that just took its first flight. Every once in awhile I see on that has plowed into something. If you leave them alone, they recover and take off. All I know to do is protect them so that an animal doesn't get to them. A bat I stay away from because we have lots of problems with and they are often rabid so I call animal control. The dazed look could be more than dazed. Be careful please. . .

I had a bat in a bucket in my garage one time, and I couldn't figure out why it would not just fly up to the rafters. Then I was in a conversation with the new church janitor at our church, and we have a bat problem. I learned that a bat can not take flight when it is on the ground.
So, I would call animal control of your town, city and ask them. Or possibly buy a butterfly net and try to scoop it in and take it outside. If the bat is very small this might work. But only do what you are most comfortable with. If you are afraid of it, seek outside assistance.

When you see 'em out in the open like that, it usually means the little feller is in bad health to start with. Don't pick him up. He probably just didn't fall and get dazed. He was probably in poor health to begin with, from a virus or a disease. Became weak and then fell. What ever is ailing him could be transferred to you if you pick him up - either by a bite, mites, or even infected fleas. I hate to see 'em so helpless like that too, but best to leave 'em be.

Call your local Game and Fish department. They deal with wildlife that many city animal control officers won't mess with. I had a possum take up residence in my attic, and Game and Fish were the only ones who would come trap it. They didn't charge me either.

YOU NEED TO SECURE IT IN A BREATHABLE CONTAINER. BE CAREFUL BY PUTTING ON SOME PROTECTIVE GEAR, WE DON'T KNOW HOW FRIGHTENED IT MAY BE. THEN CALL EITHER THE ANIMAL CONTROL SHELTER, LOCAL WILDLIFE CONSERVATION. AND LET THEM HANDLE THE HEALTH OF THE POOR THING.

pick it up in something (maybe a big bucket) and take it outside to where it can fly away if it comes to, or call animal control.
