I am a United States citizen when it comes to nationality.

My heritage is Scottish, Irish, English, German, Dutch, Polish and Chinese. Maybe a few others that have been lost to time. (My great-great grandfather was a foundling--don't know what heritage that side of the family has.)

Yes, I am proud of my nationality and heritage. They are part of who I am. If I cannot be proud of myself, who will be proud for me?

I am more proud to be American than anything.
My ancestry is Japanese. But you know what? When I am Japan, I am an American, not Japanese. Many Americans want so badly to be a part of a heritage with an identifiable culture, I think. But the people from that culture only see you as American.
Something to think about.

My nationality is American. My heritage is German, Dutch, French, and Blackfoot Indian.I am proud of all that but do not feel it is important to walk around trying to be different or draw attention to my background. My nationality is the most important. I am an American first. What i don't understand is why other people who have a mixed background don't claim them all , instead of just picking one and ignoring the rest. The people who answered here gave some very good answers. The people I am talking about are the ones you meet day to day who you know are mixed race yet they only want to claim one.

I'm Icelandic. I'm proud of myself. I don't feel like my nationality and heritage are anything to be either proud or ashamed of, I didn't choose them or have anything to do with them, so I'm just proud of being me. :)
