I'd call 911 right there and then threaten them with that. If I didn't have a phone I'd yell at them to scare them away. If it didn't then..........yeeeeessss. I'd have to help. I don't like the thought of getting involved but I wouldn't stand there and do nothing.

When I was 16, I stepped in (on a NYC bus) and had it out with someone for pushing one of the younger kids around. I got my a** kicked but I actually won the fight - she ended up with a broken nose and some cracked ribs. I just got a black eye, a fat lip and a reputation that I'm badass! But it felt great to know that I did the right thing. I would definitely step in today (at 34) if my son wasn't with me (he's 5). At the very least, I'd call the cops.

That is a very good question. The answer all depends on how big and how young the attacker is. I'm not stupid enough to get myself hurt in the process of helping a stranger. I would call the police first. If its an adult hitting a child, yes, then I would get involved.
I would never try to break up two dogs fighting, and I'm aware that 2 men fighting can be a lot more brutal. How you might ask?? One of them might have a gun or knife. I'll leave it to the police to take care of a fight.

Sorry but no, even though I have a black belt in karate. I just wouldn't get physically involved, there's the chance I could get hurt or accused of assault.
I might shout at the attacker if I thought it might scare him off (I'm 6ft and fairly built), or if it was a serious beating I would go round the corner and phone 999 for help.

If I helped, the cops would think that I was the suspect when they arrived and shoot me, so NO I wouldnt help directly, I would call the cops anonymously and let them deal with it. The cops around here are too trigger happy.

Plus, if I DID get involved, and the cops didnt shoot me, the cops would probably still arrest me for trying to be a vigilante, which is illegal in this area. So I STILL wouldnt help.

But would I want to help? Sure! As soon as the laws are changed and police training is changed to allow it to happen with me being shot and killed or arrested by the police myself just for tyring to help someone.

Remember the quote, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished"

Yes. I saw a recent car-jacking where this guy beat up a 92 year old veteran of WWII and stole his car. If I was there I probably would have turned the car-jacker into a vegetable. Probably a squash.

Yes, I would take pictures of the attacker with my cellphone and call 911. I'd help the victim to the hospital and use any evidence I could to put the attacker behind bars for a long time.

I don't understand this....crime happens everyday, yet everyone answers that they would help. If so many people are actually jumping in, why are the crime rates so high?! Heroism is in most of these peoples' heads. Here in Calgary, a woman was raped and killed in a very public place. No one helped even though she apparently screamed for a half an hour. Yell "rape" and no one helps. Yell "fire" and everyone looks, but no one acts. I don't understand.....We can all talk the talk....

Yes, I've done it before. A punk kid and his hideously fat and twisted girlfriend beat the hell out of a man in a wheelchair for his money just so they could get cigarettes. So, I beat the hell out of him, then her, then got the man his money back, the police showed up and those two went to jail.

You bet, I would help especially if a person is being beat is an old person or woman or a child.
