I think it depends on your religious background. In my religion, we have no such thing as demons exactly, but something called jinns. People often refer to jinns as demons. There are two 'species' (i guess u can say) that will be judged on judgement day. and that is humans (who are made of clay) and jinns (who are made from fire/smoke). Angles are made of light, but they will not be judged.

Jinns like humans, can be good or bad. They exist among us, living their own life, doing their own thing. There are cases where jinns have posessed human bodies and all, but usually they stick to themselves. Jinns have other powers that humans don't have, like incredible speed, incredible strength, and they are also not visible to the human eye.

anyways, as for fallen angels. weeeell, according to many people, Satan is a fallen angel. But in fact if u look at details more closely, he is a Jinn. Angels are another creation of God made from light, but they are purely for serving God. They do not know how to disobey him b/c they were not given the consious to do so. So the term fallen angel is actually incorrect, infact its impossible b/c angels cannot "fall" b/c they don't know how to "fall". Satan was a jinn and the leader of the angels way back before man was created. He was very devoted to God and so entitled as the leader for the angels. But when God created Adam, and asked the angels (including Satan who was their leader) to bow to Adam, they all bowed except for Satan. B/c of his disobedience, God cursed him. and till judgement day arrives, Satan is the biggest enemy to God and to the human race and he is constantly trying to divert our mind to the evil path. Satan is a jinn. he's made of fire. contrary to popular belief, he's not a fallen angel, b/c angels were made too pure to disobey God. They don't know how to disobey God, thats why they won't be judged on judgment day. But humans and jinns will be judged. Evil jinns do exist out there and they are followers of Satan. (you also have true believers of God among jinns as well.) the very evil jinns who cause harm to humans are often referred to as demons.

jinns can play with our consious. often we see cartoons or movies etc where we see a devil sitting on the left shoulder and an angel on the right. the angel gives the person good thoughts encouraging the person to do wats right and the devil tells the person to do bad things and follow the evil path. this concept is actually true. for every person, there is a follower of satan (a jinn) constantly trying to pull u towards evil and there is an angel constantly trying to pull u towards good. this battle between good and bad will continue till judgement day and humans are stuck in the middle. those who choose to follow the good path are promised paradise and those who follow the devil/satan/evil jinns will most proably go to hell unless God forgives them.

Humans can if they want interact with jinns by calling upon them in certain ways of which i'm not quite sure. most of the paranormal stuff we experience or see or feel is usually the cause of a mischevious jinns. Humans can call upon jinns and sometimes can even trap them and force them to do their work. Back in the day, some not so good people used to trap jinns in bottles and use them for their own evil work, this is where the concept of "genie in a bottle" comes from and the fact that the genie grants u ur wishes.

i hope i was able to give you some information. this ofcourse, is according to my religious beliefs. other people may believe in other things, but i guess its good for you to know all the kinds of stuff out there people believe in about angels and demons, whether u agree with it or not. its quite an interesting concept, sometimes a bit freaky.

Demons are actually fallen angels. When Lucifer aka. Satan, once a very beautiful angel rebell against God because of his pride and suppose perfection, he was thrown down from heavan with a third of angel host that he incite to rebell. They are not thrown down to hell, just out of heaven. Because the demon rebell, their appearance are not as beautiful as before. There are rank among these demons too and they try to copy God in everything he do except use it for evil

from an Islamic point of view, the satan was a gin (or genie)not an angel(as angel were made with no capacity to sin and he was devoted genie, however he later rebelled when God decided to make mankind, the satan stated that mankind will be disobedient and sinners.the satan rebelled because of this.

Theres is more to this maybe you can read parts or the Quran that explain this
