How to Solve DISK BOOT FAILURE?

Question

i have a error when i start the computer like "DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK",
I checked the following
1. cable check
2. SMPS check
3. Bios setup
but my harddisk didnot identified. but CDROM identified, What can i do? Please anybody help me

Your hard drive may have died. This error is telling you that that BIOS can't find a bootable drive or operating system.

Open the case, put your hand on the hard drive and start the computer. You should feel a slight vibration when the drive spins up. If you don't then the either the drive is dead or the power connector has failed.

If the drive does spin up then you might want to try running the WIndows Repair Console. Here are the instructions:

Put your XP disk into your CD drive and restart your system. This will start the XP installation process. When you come to the screen that asks if you want to install XP or if you would like to “Repair” XP, choose Repair. This will open the repair console command prompt. At the prompt, type: chkdsk /r. (There is a space between the k and the /. Now hit “Enter”. The repair should now start. Allow it to run until it stops. This can take some time, so be patient.

If all goes well, XP will replace any and all missing operating system files.

Having performed the 3 steps you mentioned. It is very possible that your hard drive crashed.

put ur system disk (xp cdrom ) in ur cdrom thats what its looking 4

sounds like your harddisk has died. Download a bootable CD (like Linux) and see if you can see the harddisk with that. If you can (which I doubt), make backups asap.
