with me, it's 'chick flicks', romantic comedies, anything based on a tv series, and anything considered 'art house'...you know, those 'important small films'...it's not from a lack of exposure-i've tried all three and they all just make me want to drive a fork into my eyeballs...

I'm with you on the romantic comedy genre. It should be clear to everyone that Julia Roberts is going to end up with Hugh Grant and not Bill Pullman (not Paxton) according to the man with the 105 IQ (Homer Simpson). How anyone can sit through one of those movies and not cry out in frustration at the ridiculous storyline is beyond me.

I also detest video game movies and comic book movies. The original Superman nearly 30 years ago was a decent movie, but beyond that has been a lot of trash.

Anything with an axe, chainsaw, knife, deranged doll, eyeballs with forks or blood as the main character is out for me. Funny 'horror' movies like the 'Scary Movie' spoofs and Bubba Hotep (sp?) are OK. Lifetime movies .

I like some Independent and Sundance films, and will do subtitles depending on subject. Someone mentioned Spike Lee specifically... I like every movie of his that I've seen; 'Do the Right Thing' should have won an Oscar! I could go the rest of my life without another remake of Pride and Predjudice.

Accion movies that include Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Dam, Arnold Shwartznegger, you know the type.
So called "horror" movies, I'm sorry, not matter how much they try, it's all the same and it's not scary.
lol, I agree, romantic comedies are lame!
As for chick flicks, most of them are bad, but there are a very few good ones.
Urgh, absolutely right, tv series movies are awful, always.

And since you said "genres", here's a music one I really avoid like the plague: Reggaeton.

Right there with ya spike in your preferences - its still the big action movies for me. I really don't like movies that try to teach me a moral or political message or how to live, they are so often pedantic and condescending, and I don't like paying $10 to be propagandized. So, I guess I'd add some documentary films to your list. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go catch the latest 'Bourne Identity' movie . . .

Horror films, even as a kid I didn't like them.

War Movies with excessive violence (Saving Private Ryan)

I just read through all of these answers and some are very funny, people taste and humor crack me up. Good job.

I agree with you about Romantic comedies and movies based on TV series', and I'd also like to add Lifetime movies, movies based on video games, parodies (Scary Movie, Date Movie -- any movie by 5 out of 6 writers of Scary Movie), and anything recent with Steve Martin.

spike you are not alone...lol
frikkin chick flicks (leve the lifetime network to tha wife ya know)
most comedies cuz they're a dime a dozen
art films (ugggggg)
foreign films (seen exactly ONE good one in my entire life-Brotherhood Of The Wolf)
torture films (hostel audition etc-really pisses me off)
Harry Potter cuz i think the whole concept is ignorant
Mostly that stuff cuz I just might prefer to spend 6 hrs listening to Nsync (horrible thought) than watching mosta that tripe.
