hi, i will be moving into the gold coast area in the next few months and was wondering which would be the best bank to transfer my money to, with easy access to ATM's and ect.

Any of the four big banks in Australia would be suitable, the ANZ, the NAB, Westpac and the Commonwealth. All have branches and ATMs everywhere. There are smaller banks and credit unions but I would start with one of the big four. You can always change later if you find another bank more convenient.

If you are transferring overseas, you will have to do what is called a "foreign wire". If you have multiple accounts at your current bank, I would make sure there is always enough money in the account that your debit card is linked to. Then just use your debit card and have some type of back up to make purchases if need be.
