My father in law lives in Australia and says the racism against the Aboriginal people is horrible. Are there other places where it is bad?

I'm kind of tired of young folks with no perspective constantly repeating this nonsense that they hear from the race-baters in this country that the U.S. is such a racist place. I'm not saying racism is gone completely-- it may never be, but there are few places on Earth where people of such diverse backgrounds live together in general harmony than in America. Meanwhile, there are plenty of places on this planet where ethnic cleansing is always a real threat. I wish people would start understanding things in context instead of just repeating rubbish.

There is racism or ethnic disputes all over the world. Actually the USA is one of the best governments in the world in terms of equality and justice. The USA offers better opportunities for economic mobility than other countries. In India, there are still more mild enforcements of the caste system, in Africa countries, there is discrimination and ethic cleansing of Christians. In the middle east, women are not given equal rights. The people may look the same, but man has a way of continually differentiating themselves based on appearance, religion, and geography.

If you think racism is that bad here, I would suggest taking a look around the world. Pretty much every other country in the world has its problems with prejudice, whether it is based on religion, culture or race.

Give the u.s. a bit of credit. We may still have our ignorant idiots (of every race...white people arent the only racists in the world!!!) but we are still way ahead of most of the rest of the world. Nothing is perfect, if life was perfect it would be boring!

Racism is still an important issue, unfortunately the program that the United States came up with to help "even" things out is actually doing more harm than good. Affirmative action actually is racist itself. It basically says that minorities (races other than white, and women also) need help to get by in life. They can't do it on their own. Personally, as a minority myself (I'm spanish, and a woman) I find that most offensive.

Your question in all honesty is prejudice. It is an ignorant judgement on this country and it's people and practices, NOT based on any facts. Ignorance is the biggest cause of racism, and unfortunately for a lot of people, they don't even realize that they are being prejudice/racist.

I agree with Jimmy H. - I grew up in Texas, got sick of the racism, and I moved to Germany after finishing undergrad, where things are MUCH better- there is absolutely no comparison, even with Germany's racist past. The point here is that Germany does not deny its dark past- instead, people embrace it and deal with it. So if you're a minority in America (or anyone else for that matter) and sick of all the racism, you really should look into moving to another country- it is not as difficult to do as you may imagine!

That is being practiced in every country not only racism but superiority. They feel to be superior than any other country. It is also happening in this section of the yahoo answers and question. Can"t you think that atheist people claimed to be superior than christian people but in fact, they lack understanding.

So just relax and stop worrying about racism and superiority to others.

Probably somewhere in the Middle East, like Iraq for instance, where Saddam persecuted the Kurds and in the 1980's he purposely fired chemical weapons at their villages.

Not that I know of, the US seems to be at the top of the list. Although, I'm sure that there are plenty of other countries that deal with racism to some degree.
