What can I plant for the late summer into fall?

I live in Missouri and have a large area that needs some color. Is there anything I can start from seed?

I really think you're too late for seeds this year

Not from seed, there just isn't enough time for anything to flower. You will have to purchase flowers that are already in bloom or almost in bloom. You can plant any preblooming perennial from your local garden store.
