I have watched UFC alittle, but i never really seen them wrestle. All i have seen it is like a boxing match and then one of them throw other one on the top and they are just punching each other and they get up and throw somemore punches and kicks more like martial artists not like wrestlers. So how can you all compare it to wrestling when it is not. Because i have seen wrestling from a high school and college and UFC is totally different.
I want a real answer to this question. I don't want cursing or dissing anybody or saying anybody is gay. If you can't answer this question with a real answer, don't answer.

Years ago when UFC first started it was just cage fighting. Some people were not trained as fighters. Some people wrestled, some people knew some form of marital arts, and some people just did regular street fighting.
Now it has become known as Mixed Martial Arts. Now the fighters train in different fighting styles. They have had recent matches where the greats of the past in UFC like Royce Gracie got beat by a new age UFC. Gracie only used his submission fighting style, but the newage guy used different styles. He actually beat Gracie using submission though.
So basically it was just cage fighting that has grown to be mixed martial arts. Its considered a real sport not sports entertainment like wrestlling is.
If you smell lalalalala low what Mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ken-ne-dy...........Ken-ne-dy is cooking!

Like one of the people have said already, UFC encorporates wrestling as a background style. UFC is MMA, mixed martial arts. Many of the fighters use wrestling to gain advantages.
And the college/highschool wrestling you saw is REAL wrestling. Thats called olympic wrestling, where grappling and take downs are used, no hand to hand combat.
There is no way you can compare Olympic wrestling, UFC or WWE(or any other form of "world wrestling ENTERTAINMENT). They are 3 differant styles of a sport. Thats like comparing say, tackle and touch football.

UFC is not wrestling in and of itself. Wrestling is one discipline that UFC fighters have in their backgrounds. However, UFC is called Mixed Martial Arts for a reason. Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai, Judo, Jiujitsu, and many other forms of martial arts are the weapons that make up a UFC fighter's arsenal. It is impossible to compare UFC to pro wrestling because they are two different animals.
Several UFC fighters, including Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, have amateur wrestling backgrounds, but they do not rely completely on wrestling.
And Tyler, how many times do we have to tell you that magicmarker and his many accounts have nothing to do with the MA section. They only come to YA to annoy people, and they do not post in the MA section. Also, while there is a MA section, there is no MMA section, and anyone will tell you those are two different sports entirely.

UFC is not like wrestling, because
1. UFC fighters kick their oppenets in the head om many times that they deveolpe brain damage.
2.UFC fighters dont get called for stalling, or any other wrestling rules
3.If you mean WWE wrestling, UFC fighters don't run 30-min promos talking about how they are better than you and everyone else
4.UFC is a show pitting grown men beating the stuffings out of one another like a street fight, wrestling WWE is more glamourous, while high school wrestling is more finesse, and pure training and skill

As mentioned, UFC involves many different types of martial arts from judo to boxing to wrestling. While many wrestling moves are used by fighters, these are usually limited to submission holds (sleeper holds, arm bars, etc.), trying to get the other fighter to tap out. However, this can usually result in one fighter (usually the less-skilled at wrestling) to resort to strikng to try to either win or get their opponent off so he can get back to his feet. While both fighters are on their feet however, striking is more favoured by most. To a casual observer this is most of the time, and makes it seem more like boxing or kick-boxing.
The reason it is compared to wrestling (both "professional" [e.g. WWE] and amateur) is probably because both appeal to the same demgraphic while usually competing against each other with ratings. Also a few fighters have tried their hand at both forms, most notably Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn from the 90s, and more recently Daniel Puder and to a lesser extent Brock Lesner.

Personally I would say no it is not
It is MMA (mixed martial arts) and that section of Y!A is where they belong but they come here to annoy us, and so UFC is different then wrestling and I find it alot more boring without the fake but funny storylines lol, So in my personal Opinion no, however some people consider it wrestling.
