"You may produce intelligence that can keep you out of a war, but I doubt that you'll ever get 1,2,3 reports of intelligence that will in any way allow you to go to war"
Milt Bearden
Former CIA station chief in Pakistan
30 years service
How many of you realize that much of the intelligence used by the Bush administration was single source, circumstantial evidence? Almost NONE of it was confirmed in any supportable fashion.

coragryph - part of my point is how in the world can anyone trust what this administration has to say concerning Iraq. They have been wrong on every single policy decision about Iraq.

I don't doubt that. It was a mistake to go into Iraq but those who toss the word lie around don't know what they are talking about.

Bush and his cronies couldn't wait to have a war. The 9/11 attacks, although Iraq had nothing to do with them, were a great excuse. Why would they want a war?
Their policies are so lame that, once people figured out what they were up to, Dubya would lose in 2004 so a war was necessary with the message that we don't want to change Administrations during this huge and horrible war. They want people to focus on the war rather than other issues because they know that when other issues are brought up they lose big time. It is a lot to do with Karl Rove's plan for a one party government like Nazis or Communists only ours would be Republican (notice no mention of democracy- The USSR was a republic but Communist).
They weren't willing to wait for confirmation of intellegnce. If they waited there may not have been confirmation of their claims and they would have been caught lying right away. Eventually they did get caught but too late to stop the insanity.

I know that, and some he knew to be false!
In fact most of it was and he was blowing off the CIA intelligence who was telling him what he didn't want to hear!
The yellow cake he knew was a lie. The letter from England was a forgery, and Hans Blix, the chief UN inspector didn't agree with Bush!
The only reason Bush didn't go to the Security council as required by international law and rule of our land through the Constitution, is that he knew he would lose and if he did he could not attack Iraq! Russia was going to veto it!

The lie was in how this was presented to the American people; and I guess lie may be the wrong word, it is more like we fell for the pitch of a sleazy used car salesman. Had we been given not the intel but the fact that it was shaky, we citizens might have stood up sooner to call Congress to account.
As for the present, based on their past performance, what is a good reason to believe that what they tell us now is any more valid or any more likely to result in a good outcome than their first debacle??
Truth is better than misrepresentation; and since we have been bs'd into war once, we darn well better demand ironclad reasoning for continuing the war or for starting a new one.

We now have the luxury of four years of hindsight concerning the run-up to Iraq. We were lied to, there is no other way to describe what happened. President Bush has conned the conservatives. Nothing he said to support his invasion of Iraq has turned out to be true, nothing. Conned by a con and yet he still has some hard core supporters. What a buffoon.

Civic minded people must widen their horizon in acquiring information on current events such as visiting sites about secrect conspiracy all available in net. Bearded might defected from the service hence has basis on our speculation on what he's pointing about.

Are you feeling paranoid? like people are out to get you?
You know you can be treated and the chances are good you can fully recover.
You obsession is probably also affecting your personal and business life. Do you find people distancing themselves from you?
If so, really consider professional help.

Interesting -- but it doesn't change anything.
Congress authorized the use of military force to depose Saddam. They voted to approve the invasion. End of story.
We deposed Saddam. He's gone. Mission Accomplished.
These have nothing to do with our current decisions -- they are past, gone, over -- and the more we focus on the past, the less we can make decisions in the present.

Intelligence reports must be validated so that military operations will not be jeopardized that will discredit the US military.
