For some reason your mother is angry about the letter and wants to teach you a lesson.
But according to many books written by renowned psychologists, this is wrong. Whenever you chastise someone, it should always be in private.
Chastising someone in public is humiliating and invalidating. It makes the person feel violated. Private things should be kept private.
P.s. I googled up Nasty People to find the author and some other titles caught my eye like (for example)
1. How to Deal with Parents Who Are Angry, Troubled, Afraid, or Just Plain Crazy by Elaine McEwan
2. The How to Easily Handle Difficult People Handbook: Everything Problem People Don't Want You to Know by Murray Oxman
There are many books out there.....Reading is a great way to get information and to learn. (Reading takes you out of the limits of the classroom)...

Just wait until no one is looking and snatch it off the wall.
Your mother is way out of line, no matter what she says.
A letter like that is personal, she is violating every moral fiber of common decency, especially to the family. You are justifiably pissed off. Now it's up to you to do the right thing.
I feel sorry for you, having a mom that does stuff like that:(
Snatch it and burn it, first chance you get.
Oh yeah, tell your cousin about it, make sure no other letters are within her grasp:)

uh..you mean people outside the family can see? That's not just rude...it's beyond any level of caring. Imagine if your cousin found out..could be the very thing to push him over the edge. Take it down and tell your mother not to be so immature. See a previous question on boundaries of stupidity and you might understand why this just po'd me.......sheesh.

I think that is VERY rude for any letter, but especially one so personal.
Take it down and talk to your mother about it.

I am sorry that happened to you, your mom was wrong to do that. Try to find out why she would do this and talk to her she might need some help with her daughter skills when you talk to her. Good luck and hope it gets better for you, just remember she loves you.

I sorry to say, but your mom has become sick and twisted with this "compare your kids to prove you are better" thing... If you don't take it down you are just as guilty as she!!!
