It is different. Raleigh is a lot more like the southern rural portion of New Jersey. My fiance is from New Jersey and she often complains that there are no delis or greek restauraunts. I've noticed that in the northern portion of New Jersey, a lot of people there are used to fun and entertainment 24 hours a day. Most everything in Raleigh closes by 2am. It is easier to buy alcohol in North Carolina, as you do not have to go to a "Packaged Goods" or "Dry Goods" store.

There is a popular area for restauraunts and clubs in the downtown area by the capital building. I have listed a link to my favorite place, Tir Na Nog. There is a restauraunt called the Flying Saucer or something that is near there that a friend of mine loves, he said that there area bout 75 beers on tap at all times.

There are a lot of items and events in the area. A lot of stuff requires a bit of driving. In the spring, there is a small renaissance festival held down there.

I hope that you have fun in Raleigh. Good luck!
