I want to build a web page, using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and register a domain name. Are there sites that host, what I want to do, for free?

I think alot of people are either not reading the question or not understanding it.

I want to register and pay for a domain name. I am just looking for a place to host it for free.

I don't want a free domain name

I don't know any that are free but Yahoo gives you the first yera for $1.99 and it works great. I use it for my Ebay business. Any of the one's that are free or were free just don't work right.

Take care,
Kali :-)

If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.

As was already stated Free is not going to be the way you go when doing this.
Rather then you waste your time and money go to YAHOO'S GEOCITIES.
They offer you Domain Service, Web Hosting, and also there Software as well.
They are reliable and trouble free, for the money and there reliability you can't beat them.

No, because it cost's money to maintain that domain name for you.

If you want to post such a site free, best thing for you to do, especially if you have another PC, is to download "Apache web server" and launch the site from your own webserver. It won't have it's own domain name however, it will be in the IP address of your PC as the url.

Free hosts can contain ads, framesets, etc. Crap you don't want on your site.

I shell out $7/month for hosting... if you can't afford that, then I don't know what to tell you. My host is http://eleven2.com

Free hosts are a dime a dozen and promise you the world. I haven't seen one that gives you the full rule of your site and if you have one of them, you have to constantly contact them for every little thing.

Buck up and get a host cheap. Either at the link prior, or http://mediatemple.net or http://dreamhost.com

I host myself, you can access it via your PC name, IP address, anywhere in the world, anyone, any IP, no username (unless you want to), install http://www.apache.com/'s web server (try http://www.wampserver.com/), if you have it pre-installed, try http://iis.net/ for ASP.NET and PHP self (free) hosting. http://asp.net/ and http://php.net/ technologies MAY be included and it is always FREE for the amount of PC space you have. Then just install web application like forums, wikis and other web applications, easily (unless it is a different version or not plug 'n' play, then you will need to fix the code and settings (not that difficult if you know PHP, ASP.NET, JS, VB.NET, C#.NET, ASP or HTML/XML code.
Try forum hosting at http://instant-forum.com/ or http://cjb.net/

Register your domain at http://cjb.net/ http://freedomain.co.nr/ or http://dot.tk/ for free, or own name server. There are a few free and new ones on the web.

Freewebs - 100MB.com - http://google.com/search?q=free+web+hosting

For a domain, that one you're going to have to purchase. www.godaddy.com has domains ending in .info (yourwebsite.info) for $2.99 for the first year.
