i don't think anybody is legally required to help you, but i think it is morally wrong, and quite disgusting if they don't offer you some kind of assistance. good luck!

As a pregnant woman, you do have a higher ground for housing from the council, but this can vary from area to area.

Look up your local council on the internet if you can and then check out their housing/lettings policy.

Here in London, under Tower Hamlets (which covers almost the whole of East London) pregnant women are given a slightly higher priority.
The way this works is that they are put into hostels (which I know are horrible places but unfortunately they're the only palce to go in a lot of cases.)
You are then placed into temporary accommodation if there are no appropriate properties, or if there are properties available you're re-housed.

I'd certainly say though, look up your local authority as most of them have homeless sections that are specially set up for people in your situation. Hope this helps some!

It depends on whether you are making yourself homeless or if you are being made homeless.
For example, if you are being evicted because you have failed to pay your rent or you are not renewing your tenancy contract then it is held to be your fault and you will not qualify for rehousing.
However, if you are going to be homeless because your landlord has served you with an eviction notice and wants you out, then you may qualify for rehoming.
You will score points with your council depending on your income etc and being heavily pregnant should gain you more points. Remember that if you are a single pregnant woman, you will only be housed in temporary, probably bedsit type accomodation. Only after your baby is born will you qualify for more spacious accomodation with your own cooking and washing facilities.
Ask the housing officers what you need to score more points under their housing system as it is different under every Council.

How quickly the coulcil find a place for someone depends on how many points they have. The minute a person becomes homeless they get more points n should be put to the top of the list.
Surely they can't expect someone to bring up a baby with no home.
Really feel 4 u, just have to keep pushin em tell them ur already homeless, just kippin on mates sofas. They just bein gits!!!!

I think the council are trying to put you off, i don't think a woman in your situation can be made to sleep on the streets. Contact your local citizens advice or social services for advise.. They might be able to help you. Good luck with everything, i hope you get the help you need, you dont need to under any stress at this stage in your pregnancy.

i was evicted by the court when i was pregnant. the council refused to help, so i had to appeal again and again and again. i was finally placed in a b+b when by baby was 5 weeks old. in between, i was sleeping on friends floors. it was so hard. my advice is, just go in every day, appeal till they are sick of you. don't leave unless the court evicts you. if you leave at the end of ur tenancy or when the notice to quit comes into affect, then you are still making urself homeless. STAY THERE until the court evicts you.

firstly, anyone leaving a message saying that someone who is homeless should not become pregnant is talking out of their butt.
A person can be made homeless at any time in their life thru no fault of their own. Partner could assault them, partner could die, leaving homeless, a number of things could happen, and saying this is vry hurtful and just shows people have no compassion.
I feel for you, and hope you can sort it out. If you go to your GP< he may be able to advise

they might not be able to help you.. but go to your local DSS department.. they can give you emergency WIC, food stamps, medicare, and helps with housing.
You do have a job right? Getting help from the state requires you to show paystubs from the month prior.
If you don't, go to your local women's shelter.. they take care of you there..
Try to find a job though as soon as possible. There are jobs for pregnant women.. maternity stores hires pregnant women. And you get discounts!
